My name is Veronica Butuc-Mayer. My husband, Dan, and I work at Caminul Felix as house-parents since 1999. We have 15 children in our family, 9 boys and 6 girls. Our youngest one is 7 but we have him since he was just a little baby of two weeks and the oldest is 23. Quite a family, isn’t it!
I believe that God called us to this ministry because it has to do with the transformation of the lives, of the children’s lives. God is the only one who performs miracles, we are His humble tools.First, this ministry has to do with their physical transformation.
I always like to tell the story of one of our girls. When we brought her into our family she was two years old, but she looked like a very tiny baby. She could not walk, she could not even sit and she had very severe respiratory problems. Today, after a few years, she is a very happy and a very healthy girl. She runs around the house, she rides her bike and she attends a normal school. Love is the best treatment in the world! Second, the ministry of Caminul Felix has to do with the psychological transformation, with the transformation of their feelings. They used to feel rejected, abandoned, not wanted. Now they feel loved, secure, protected.I believe that the most important transformation is the spiritual one.
The children from Caminul Felix have the opportunity to be raised up in Christian families and the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ. Five of our boys received Jesus as their Savior and the spiritual transformation took place. Praise God for that! For these and for many other reasons, I believe the ministry of Camino Felix is the ministry of God!
